Well, what is jewellery? Ok – so I don’t really know just yet but I am pretty sure that it is more than we think it is!! We wear it to say something – or remember something. Would anyone wear jewellery if they did not think that it improved their appearance in some way? Would you wear a piece of jewellery that made you look UGLY? By wearing jewellery are we saying that we need some enhancement, albeit a small one, to make us appear better?
Errrrrm still thinking!!!
Anyway, my MA course leader thinks about Contemporary Jewellery all the time. Rebecca is great – she makes you think about every thing you do, say or make. (which is good really) We were chatting together and she told me about this wall ornament in Farnham, where I study, that she calls Wall Jewellery. This got me thinking ……. and I thought some more …… will keep thinking …..
Albert Paley, the great metalworker, used the phrase wall jewellery, so Rebecca is in the company of the greats.
